Minister to inaugurate Invention to Innovation Summit

Islamabad, June 16, 2012 (PPI-OT): Ms. Rahela Shahadat Baloch, Minister of State for Science and Technology and Mr. Akhlaq A. Tarar, Federal Secretary for Science and Technology will inaugurate the “Invention to Innovation Summit- 2012” in Al-Razzi Hall, Centre for Undergraduate Studies, University of the Punjab, Lahore on Monday, June 18, 2012.

Pakistan Science Foundation is organizing this one-day event in collaboration with the Institute for Research Promotion (IRP) and University of the Punjab, Lahore. Dr. Manzoor H. Soormro, Chairman Pakistan Science Foundation, Dr. Mujahid Kamran, Vice Chancellor, University of the Punjab, Lahore and Mr. Abid Sherwani, CEO, Institute for Research Promotion have joined hands to establish industry-academia linkages for the uplift of applied research.

Dr. Farid A. Malik, Ex-Chairman, Pakistan Science Foundation will present a keynote address on Technology Competitiveness-S and T Policy for Pakistan. Mr. Feroze Khan will deliver a talk on stimulating private investment in New Technologies- Solution for Pakistan. to establish strong linkages between industry and scientists for commercialization of indigenous technologies.

The purpose of this summit is to pass on domino effect of Science to the Society The people having technologies engrossed with local R and D have been invited to put up to show their ideas through posters presentations, documentaries and physical prototypes etc.

The industries and academia personals will also present their innovative products and research experiences. The summit will provide a great opportunity for business development and applied R and D through Industry-Academia Linkages. The industrial issues identified during this summit will be taken up jointly by Pakistan Science Foundation, Academia and the Industry. The summit will close at 5:00pm.
