Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikander Hayat Khan Bosan inaugurates first mobile veterinary clinic

Islamabad, June 17, 2015 (PPI-OT): PARC Mobile Veterinary Clinic would provide quality veterinary services at the door step of livestock farmers. No doubt, it is a revolutionary step that would ensure lab based investigations rather symptomatic diagnosis and treatment. This was stated by Federal Minister for Food Security and Research Sikander Hayat Khan Bosan while addressing the launching ceremony of PARC mobile veterinary clinic at National Agricultural Research Centre.

The Federal Minister further added that PMVC is a step towards establishment of state of the art Diagnostic Laboratory, so that veterinary services in Pakistan can come at par with the developed countries. PMVC would provide veterinary services to one lac buffalos, 75000 cows, cattle and rural poultry of the federal capital.

The PMVC has been completed with the financial assistance from RADP (Research for Agricultural Development Program). PMVC would be connected with the central laboratory at PARC and the services would be extended to other regional centers soon.

The minister stressed on the provincial governments to replicate the same in provinces, so that quality veterinary services can be made available on call. The minister appreciated the services rendered by NARC in wake of food security for the last forty years. He highlighted that despite shrinkage of agricultural land, Pakistan never faced shortage of the agricultural produce and the credit goes to the scientists for their untiring efforts in research.

The minister reiterated that PARC is a platform for research and its practical implementation. It serves as a liaison between the farmers and the policy makers. This connection should be made stronger so that new policies can be framed to provide maximum benefit to the farmers.

The event was attended by Chairman PARC Dr Iftikhar Ahmed, DG NARC, member Animal Sciences Dr Shahid Rafique, FAO representatives and livestock farmers. After inauguration, farmers apprised the minister of their problems. Minister Bosan directed the authorities for prompt action.
