Minister directs Secretary Housing to monitor Estate Office working

Islamabad, June 18, 2013 (PPI-OT): Minister of State for Housing and Works Barrister Usman Ibrahim chaired a meeting of Ministry officials, here today.

The Minister reviewed the performance of Pak PWD and discussed the status of every scheme. The Minister emphasized that goal, target and timeline of each development project should be achieved. The Minister showed his deep concern over pending cases in courts and instructed to finalize those schemes urgently after vacating the litigation.

The Minister reiterated that corruption or money embezzlement would no more be tolerated and asked Director General Pak-PWD Sarwar Awan to convey the same to the lower rank. DG Pak PWD apprised the Minister about different areas where the department can cut its non development expenses such as usage of paperless system, ban on illumination of government buildings on special occasions, etc. The Minister directed Pak PWD chief engineers to physically verify the status of all on-going schemes.

The Minister directed the estate office to dig out fake allotment cases so that strict actions be taken against officials and the occupants according to law. He further directed the Secretary Housing Nasar Hayat to spent one hour in the estate office daily in the early morning to personally oversee working of the office. The secretary is instructed to monitor the routine work of the office to ensure transparency and avoid any irregularity and malfunctioning.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Housing Nasar Hayat, Joint Secretary Amna Imran, DG Pak PWD Sarwar Awan, Estate Officer Naseem Qureshi and other senior officials of the ministry.
