Message of President on the Occasion of Quaid-i-Azam’s 63rd Death Anniversary
Islamabad: Today, on the 63rd death anniversary of the Father of the Nation Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, I call upon the people to adhere to the principles of the Quaid namely democracy, constitutionalism and egalitarianism and respect for ballot instead of bullet in deciding upon political issues.
The Quaid envisioned Pakistan to be a country where there would be social justice and economic opportunities for all. At a time when the country is ravaged by floods and natural calamities, ensuring social justice demands that every citizen must step forward and play his role in alleviating the sufferings of the flood victims.
The best way to ensure egalitarianism and social justice is to provide urgent relief and rehabilitate the millions of lives that have been devastated by the floods throughout the country.
Adherence to the principles of democracy demands that we defeat the militant mindset that is seeking to impose a political agenda on the people through bullets instead of ballot.
September 11 is also a day to reiterate our resolve to carry on the struggle for strengthening the democratic polity, egalitarianism and social justice for all.
On this day, we should also pay homage to those who laid down their lives and rendered huge sacrifices for the achievement of Pakistan as well for preserving democracy and constitutionalism.
