Meeting of Standing Committee on Communications held

Islamabad, December 13, 2016 (PPI-OT): The meeting of standing committee on Communications was held here at parliament house under the chairmanship of Senator Daud Khan Achakzai who expressed reservations on the absence of chief secretaries and additional chief secretaries of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Senators including Usman Kakar, Usman Taraqai showed their concerns on the western route of CPEC. Senator Usman Kakar while adding more to it said that some highways which are being declared part of CPEC are actually not the part of CPEC but are the projects of the government. Officials from Ministry of Communications, while addressing the concerns of the members added that the highways pointed are fully funded and supervised by the Chinese government and are part of CPEC.

Chairman committee while commenting on the FWO highway from Quetta to Chaman added that the major part of FWO highway has been completed but three bridges which had to be constructed by NHA on the FWO have been escaped. Chairman NHA responded that these three bridges are part of a separate project which is going to be completed soon.
