Manmohan must explain why son denied Afzal’s last glimpse: Gilani

Srinagar, June 24, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, questioning the Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh as to why Muhammad Afzal Guru’s son was denied last glimpse of his father, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has asked Mr Singh to, at least, return the mortal remains of the Kashmiri youth hanged in Delhi’s Tihar jail on February 9, this year.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar said, “If Manmohan Singh has some regard for human values then he should come out with an answer and explain how does it make sense to make a young boy an orphan and under what provisions the innocent son of Muhammad Afzal Guru was restricted and denied to have last glimpse of his father and why his mortal remains were not returned.” He added that the Indian Prime Minister should allow the return of Afzal’s mortal remains.

“Prime Minister of India is morally bound to respond and answer how long with the military might they would suppress the genuine voice and how long they’ll ignore the reality,” he said and condemned the arrest spree launched by the administration.

“The initial reports pouring in from all quarters reveal that more than 300 people have been arrested and lodged in different police stations,” he said.

Reiterating his shutdown call, the veteran leader said it would convey a clear message to Manmohan Singh.
