Loss of lives grieved

Multan, June 25, 2015 (PPI-OT):The Business community of South Punjab has expressed deep concern, grief and sorrow over losses of more than 100 lives in South Punjab and Karachi during the last five days due to brutal heat wave, prolonged power loadshedding and water shortage in Karachi.

They expressed profound grief and sorrow over the deaths caused by the devastating heat wave in Karachi that claimed lives of hundreds of people who mainly suffered heat-stroke, dehydration, gastro enteritis and other heat related diseases.

President of Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) Mian Iqbal Hassan said that People of South Punjab heaved a sigh of relief after rain fall but Karachi is still burning due to unprecedented soaring temperatures with no water or electricity.

He said that water and electricity shortages being suffered by Karachiites should be resolved on war footing so that precious lives of innocent citizens could be saved, he stressed, adding that colossal death toll within five days could have been minimised by ensuring uninterrupted power and water supplies to the Karachiites during the ongoing scorching summer season. He said that a number of people were killed in South Punjab when mercury rose to 47.3 centigrade in Kotaddu, Cholistan, Rajanpur and adjacent areas.
