Light vigil for Peshawar attack victims held in Hong Kong

Islamabad, December 21, 2014 (PPI-OT): Candle light and flower vigil was held in Hong Kong to commemorate the victims of Army Public School, Peshawar who lost their lives in a terrorist attack on December 16, says a press release received from Hong Kong here today. The vigil was led by the Consulate General of Pakistan in Hong Kong. It was held at the historic Statue Square Garden, Central Hong Kong.

Hundreds of tearful Pakistanis, citizens of Hong Kong and people from diverse nationalities and ethnicities gathered to pay homage to the victims and condemn terrorism. A large number of children also participated the vigil to express their solidarity with the martyred school children.

The solemn ceremony commenced with recitation from the Holy Quran. A minute silence was observed in memory of the victims. On this occasion, Consul General Ghufran Memon, recalled that the objective of the gathering was to express solidarity with the victims and aggrieved families.

Pakistani nation stood united in its resolve to defeat those who sought to undermine, distort and destroy our faith, way of life and social fabric, the Consul General said. The vigil concluded with special prayers for the victims, their families and the homeland.
