Killing of TeH member evokes more condemnation

Srinagar, June 10, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the condemnation over killing of Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir senior member, Mohammad Altaf Sheikh, continues to pour in with increasing demand of inquiry into the cold-blooded murder and arrest of the killers.

Meanwhile, the condemnation over killing of Mohammad Altaf Sheikh, continued to pour in, today. Delegations separately led by Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Zafar Akbar Butt, Muhammad Musaddiq Aadil and JKLF leader, Noor Muhammad Kalwal visited Sopore and expressed sympathy with the family of the martyr.

Others who denounced the killing included Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Fazal-e-Haq Qureshi, Shabbir Ahmad Dar, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Mohammad Ramzan Khan, Ghulam Mohammad Khan Sopori, Mir Shahid Saleem, Muhammad Azam Inqilabi, Farooq Ahmad Tawheedi, human rights defender Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, Muhammad Abdullah Wani, Hakeem Abdur Rasheed, Mian Abdul Qayyum and Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl. They expressed sympathy with the bereaved family.

They said that such killings were always aimed at weakening the pro-freedom movement but the Kashmiris could not be deterred from continuing their just cause. The delegations of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League, Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir and Jamaat-e-Islami of the occupied territory participated in the funeral of Mohammad Altaf Sheikh and paid tributes to him.

The Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami in occupied Kashmir, Muhammad Abdullah Wani, in a statement strongly denouncing the killing of Altaf Sheikh said that this incident had proved that pro-India gunmen had been reactivated and were targeting pro-freedom people. A delegation of Dukhtaran-e-Millat also visited the residence of Altaf Sheikh and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.

The High Court Bar Association at a meeting held in Srinagar, today, strongly condemned the killing of Altaf Sheikh. The meeting was chaired by Mian Abdul Qayoom. Meanwhile, the Chief Patron of Kashmir Concern, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl, in a statement in London expressed anguish over the killing of Altaf Sheikh. He appealed to the international human rights organisations and the United Nations to take notice of the situation in the occupied territory and use their preventive mechanisms to save precious lives in occupied Kashmir.
