Killing of civilian in Sopore denounced

Srinagar, June 13, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, strongly denouncing the killing of a civilian, Khursheed Ahmad Butt, in Sopore has deplored that renegade Ikhwan culture is being revived in the territory to conduct targeted killing of the pro-freedom people.

Khursheed Ahmad Butt was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Bomai area of Sopore, last night. This was the second such killing in Sopore following the cold-blooded murder of a member of Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir, Altaf Ahmed Sheikh, on Tuesday. Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said that such tactics could neither suppress the Kashmiris’ liberation sentiment in the past nor would be able to do so in the future. He called for complete shutdown in Baramulla district, tomorrow, against the killings.

The All Parties Hurriyet Conference at a meeting and Hurriyet leader, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash and the spokesman of Jamaat-e-Islami of the occupied territory in their statements in Srinagar also denounced the killing of Khursheed Ahmad Butt. Complete strike was observed in Bomai, today, against the killing.

Meanwhile, the puppet authorities continued to place Syed Ali Gilani and other Hurriyet leaders including Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Raja Merajuddin and Ayaz Akbar under house arrest in Srinagar, to stop them from visiting the families of the martyrs in Sopore.

The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front organized a day-long token hunger strike camp in Nowhatta area of Srinagar to protest against the victimization of Muslims and other minorities in the Jammu region. Besides common people, resistance leaders, ulema, intellectuals, writers, journalists and civil society members visited the camp and expressed solidarity with the JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, who is leading the hunger strike.

On the other hand, the puppet authorities booked Javaid Ahmad Naikoo and Suhail Ahmad Kalwal, the close aides of senior Hurriyet leader, Masarrat Aalam Butt, under the draconian law, Public Safety Act, in a false case registered against them. People waved Pakistan’s National flag during anti-India demonstrations in Nowhatta area of Srinagar and at various places in Kupwara.
