Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minster for Education distributes Free Books and bags among students

Peshawar, December 06, 2013 (PPI-OT): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Mohammad Ati said on Thursday the government is committed to promote quality education, especially to enroll more than 2.5million children, who were out of schools in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Addressing the function of RAHA-UNDP in Noshera, Minister said, government is fully committed to bringing revolutionary changes in education sector of the province to produce well-educated students. He lauded the steps of RAHA-UNDP funded by European Union, for promotion of education and enrolment of children of various UC’s in district Nowshera.

He further added that RAHA KP has done a tremendous job in supporting the education department and is in close liaison to identify and further strengthen many upcoming initiatives in this regard.

The event was organized by Refugees Affected and Hosting Areas RAHA-UNDP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Programme, funded by European Union, to mark the effort of distributing free-books and bags among children, recently enrolled in Government-run girls schools at primary level in various Union Councils of district Nowshera.

The initiative was taken by RAHA-UNDP KP implemented by UNDP, with financial support of European Union, under its “Primary Education Promotion”, through which more than 4,300 children, who were recently enrolled in around 173 public sector girls primary schools, in 24 Union Councils of the district Nowhera.

The event was also attended by Ms. Rabia Khattak, Assistant Director UNDP, Ms Shukriya Syed, Provincial Programme Manager RAHA-UNDP KP, Director Schools Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr Rafiq Khattak, officials of departments concerned, male and female EDOs, ADO’s from district Nowshera, and officials of RAHA-UNDP KP, concerning the books distribution ceremony at district Nowhera. A large number of children, recently enrolled in the government-run Schools at primary level, of various RAHA target Union Councils, along with their teaching staffs, members of community, and notable of areas were present on the occasion.

The students of Government High School for boys, district Nowshera, enthralled participants by presentation of National Anthem, National Songs, and other fascinating the audiences. On this occasion, Ms Shukriya Syed in her welcome note said that, RAHA-UNDP KP Program has been engaged in various interventions of the six target districts of KP, which have been affected by prolonged hosting of Afghan refugees in the province. Later, Minister Education Muhammad Atif distributed syllabus books and bags among the newly enrolled children in Government High School No 2 Noshera.
