Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health directs concerned authorities to speed up work on special initiatives and health reforms

Peshawar, March 07, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health, Shaukat Ali Yousafzai has said that legislation in certain matters was need of the hour to bring real change in health department. The present provincial government has spent most of its time for the said purpose.

Besides others pro-health activities, the government is initiating to ensure the provision of quality medicines and other items. The draft of Food Safety Authority Act has been placed before Provincial Assembly for approval.

Moreover, the PC-II regarding establishment of drugs and food testing laboratories has already been approved by PDWP and the site has also been identified in Swat, D.I.Khan and Abbottabad for establishment of the said laboratories.

He was talking to authorities and representatives of concerned departments at Peshawar. He also directed the concerned authorities to speed up work on special initiatives and health reforms. The Health Minister said that unfortunately, there was no workable track, when he was handed over the portfolio of health department.

He spend most of his time in formulating policies, laws and acts as without proper legislation and clear strategy, the change was not possible. He said corruption and cruelty were the matters of the past. Now the social martyrdom of the innocent and poor people would not be allowed any more.

He warned strict action would be taken against spurious drugs, illegal laboratories and anti-health items in the market. He further stated that it was the responsibility of government to protect the lives of people, for which the initiatives were being taken at large scales. The people should also ensure their assistance to the government in this regard, he concluded.
