KESC successful in test firing 2nd Gas Turbine – Alfalah Securities Limited

Karachi: KESC has recently been successful in test firing the second gas turbine of its 560MW Bin Qasim Power Station-II (BQPS-II) power project.

According to Alfalah Securities, the first gas turbine has also completed the critical load rejection test which now makes it eligible for the reliability and performance test runs. The three turbines being installed would add 115MW to the KESC’s grid hence enhancing its total generation capability to 345MW. The project is estimated to be completed by the 1QCY12 which would add 560MW capacity operating in combined cycle mode.

The BQPS-II is one of the largest private power generation plants in Pakistan for which the turbo machinery has been procured from GE (France) and Harbin Power Engineering (China). The gas turbine requires a continuous gas supply of 130 mmcfd which has been agreed earlier to KESC.
