‘Kashmir Almiyoo Ki Sarzameen’ released in Srinagar

Srinagar, June 15, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the book ‘Kashmir Almiyoo Ki Sarzameen’ (Kashmir, the land of tragedies) written by Shafi Naqeeb released in Srinagar. The event was organized by Kashmir Institute of Peace Studies (KIPS) at a local hotel in the city. The book has chronicled the event and important people in Kashmir’s freedom struggle since 1990.

The speakers on the occasion condemned the Sopore killings and called them the handiwork of anti-Kashmiri agencies. Manzoor Ahmad Ghazi of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) said that the trend of killings by unidentified gunmen should be stopped once for all.

“This is the biggest tragedy of Kashmir that we are not in position to identify the killers of our people. We should identify the unidentified killers and end this trend once for all,” he said. Besides others Gen Muhammad Musa, Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Er Farooq and Jas Karan Singh of Shiro Mani Akali Dal (Maan) also spoke on the occasion. The Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the way police watched such killings as a mute spectator was a proof that all this was being done at the behest of Indian establishment.
