Kashmir again assumes center stage globally

Srinagar, October 30, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik has said that the Kashmir dispute has once again assumed center stage in the world as a result of sacrifices rendered by the Kashmiri people, particularly during the past three and half months.

Muhammad Yasin Malik, while addressing media persons in Srinagar, today, said that the sinister campaign unleashed by India against the joint resistance leadership spreading the ongoing uprising was aimed at defaming the popular freedom movement. Refuting Indian allegation that Pakistan was behind the uprising, the JKLF Chairman said, such a large freedom movement that involves every section of the society cannot be instigated by an outside country. Its size, he added, suggests that it has to be indigenous. He thanked masses especially students, the people of Pir-Panjal and Kargil for supporting the uprising.

Muhammad Yasin Malik, who was arrested after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen Commander, Burhan Muzaffar Wani on 8th July, was released from jail, yesterday. A nine-year-old girl, Saiqa Jan fainted during a raid by Indian forces at Havoora in Kulgam district succumbed in a hospital in Islamabad district. She was frightened when soldiers thrashed people and damaged houses in Kulgam area.

The Hurriyet forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Jamaat-e-Islami in their separate statements termed the torching of school-buildings a ploy to distract attention of the world community from the rights abuses in Kashmir. Unknown persons set another school ablaze in Islamabad district, today.

Meanwhile, normal life remained affected on the 114th consecutive day, today, due to shutdown against the civilian killings by Indian armed forces during the past three and half months in the territory.

On the other hand, Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir leader, Muhammad Ashraf Laya was re-arrested by Indian police after a local court bailed him in a fake case. The authorities also lodged Hurriyet leaders Ameer Hamza, Bashir Ahmad Sofi, Shabbir Mujahid and Manzoor Ahmad in Central Jail, Srinagar, after invoking draconian Public Safety Act against them.
