Karachi Police to Intensify Crackdown on Robbery-Related Murders, Streamline Investigations

Karachi, In a significant move to tackle the city’s law and order challenges, IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon has announced a comprehensive strategy focusing on the arrest of suspects in robbery-related murders and the streamlining of police investigations. The strategy was unveiled during a key meeting at the Central Police Office Karachi, emphasizing the need for swift and effective policing to curb street crimes and provide justice to victims.

According to Sindh Police, IG Memon has tasked 67 of Karachi’s finest police officers with the most crucial cases, underlining the urgency of addressing incidents where civilians resist robbery attempts. Memon stressed the importance of immediate action in registering FIRs and attending to the victims’ families, signaling a zero-tolerance policy for non-registration and delays in legal processes.

The directive includes deploying the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) to arrest individuals implicated in murder cases stemming from robbery resistance. Additionally, Memon outlined plans for enhancing the efficiency of the police force through the provision of modern equipment and financial incentives aimed at boosting the morale and performance of investigative officers.

The meeting concluded with a stern warning against complacency in crime investigation and registration, mandating swift action against organized crime with the involvement of Rapid Response Force (RRF) and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) if necessary. The establishment of a revolving fund for investigative expenses was also announced, demonstrating a commitment to equipping officers with the necessary resources to combat crime effectively.
