Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s operation against encroachments

Karachi, July 10, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has directed anti-encroachment staff to enhance the speed of operation against encroachments in all districts of the city and remove every type of illegal constructions, stalls and cabins from the roads and intersections so that traffic flow during Ramazan should not be affected due to encroachments and citizens could live peacefully during this month.

He said this while directing officers of Anti-Encroachment Department. On this occasion the officers also informed about details of operation being carried out against encroachments. KMC Administrator said that encroachments were like ugly spots for city therefore they could not be endured. He said that action against encroachments should be carried on in the light of bylaws.

He said it was also an old demand of citizens of Karachi that encroachments should be removed from roads, intersections and drains as this situation cause many problems for citizens which include traffic jam, inconvenience for pedestrians and falling of garbage in storm water drains therefore action against every type of encroachment should be taken immediately.

On this occasion Director Land Anti-Encroachment informed that anti-encroachment staff during operation removed all encroachments from Quaidabad Road which improved traffic flow on the road. Encroachments including cabins, shops, carts and other things were completely removed from Quaidabad intersection whereas around 300 encroachments were eradicated from Quaidabad road and intersection and this operation would continue till elimination of all encroachments from whole area. He also informed that people of Quaidabad expressed pleasure on removal of encroachments and admired the step taken by KMC.

KMC Administrator directed that mutual and comprehensive strategy for removing encroachments should be formed with the collaboration of Commissioner Office, Police Department and District Municipal Corporations and those locations should be concentrated especially where traffic jam problems were being faced due to encroachments and citizens were facing inconvenience in their daily life.

He said encroachments from all big roads, footpaths, storm water drains, parks, play grounds and public welfare places should be removed on preferential basis and its report be presented on daily basis. He said that KMC would utilize all possible resources to finish encroachments from the whole city and operation against encroachments would be made successful with the collaboration of all stakeholders.
