Karachi Metropolitan Corporation increase 1122 helpline facility to 30 lines package

Karachi, June 30, 2015 (PPI-OT):KMC Administrator Roshan Ali Shaikh said the intense heat wave that continued in city for five consecutive days last week resulted in many deaths mostly among weak and aged people which was unfortunate, however, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation following the directive of provincial minister for local government Sharjeel Inam Memon setup 42 heatstroke management centres in different areas of the city to provide free of cost medical treatment to patients suffered with heatstroke.

The 1122 helpline facility in Civic Centre was also being changed into a 30 phone lines package so that this helpline could be made available for more people all the time. He expressed these views on a visit of the helpline centre 1122 e in Civic Centre on Tuesday.

Administrator Karachi said, the government has taken speedy measures in this connection and the marriage halls had also been converted into heatstroke management centres where doctors and medicines were also made available. He said with the decrease in temperature the heatstroke was also lowered down and now the situation coming to normal.

Administrator Karachi said KMC provided first aid treatment to over 40 thousand patients in the 42 heatstroke management centres without spending a penny on it. Besides changing the helpline 1122 into 30 phone line package, doctors were also deputed here for consultation. He said steps were being taken to create awareness among the people about heatstroke and its precautionary measures and soon a campaign will be initiated in this connection.
