Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Administrator visits under construction Flyovers on Shahrah-e-Pakistan

Karachi, July 15, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has said that under construction track of Water pump Flyover on Shahrah-e-Pakistan going from Sohrab Goath to Teen Hatti would be completed and opened for traffic before Eid whereas track of Aisha Manzil Flyover coming from Sohrab Goath to Liaquatabad would also be completed and opened for traffic after a week of Eid which would facilitate citizens visiting Shahrah-e-Pakistan during Ramazan and Eid and help resolve traffic jam problem in rush hours.

He said this while visiting and inspecting construction works of flyovers on Shahrah-e-Pakistan. On this occasion Director General Technical Services Niaz Soomro, Project Director Shabee-ul-Hassan and other officers were present.

KMC Administrator directed concerned officers and engineers to expedite construction works of projects and said that no compromise should be made on quality of material. He said that piles along with ceiling of Water Pump Flyovers have been completed and carpeting work would be completed soon and this track would be opened for traffic before Eid.

This flyover was being constructed with a cost of Rs493million which collectively include 8 spans, 64 girders and 116 piles and the length of this flyover was 610 meter. KMC Administrator during a visit to Aisha Manzil Flyover said that all girders of a track of Aisha Manzil Flyover have been fitted and ceiling work of remaining park would be completed before Eid which would be opened for traffic. He informed that Aisha Manzil Flyover was being completed with a cost of Rs377million.

Three lanes for each side of this flyover were being constructed and this flyover has 460 meter length and underground utility lines have been shifted whereas space for mass transit has been kept along flyover. He said that special arrangements for funds have been made for carrying out construction works of Water Pump and Aisha Manzil flyovers speedily whereas high-quality material was being used in construction of these flyovers.

KMC was taking keen interest in construction of these flyovers and efforts were being made to utilize all resources and open them for traffic after their completion as soon as possible. He said that construction works of Liaquatabad Flyover and Teen Hatti Flyover on Shahrah-e-Pakistan were also underway speedily and these projects would be completed soon. He said that early completion of flyovers on different intersections of Shahrah-e-Pakistan was necessary as this road was one of the busiest roads of Karachi.

The road links Karachi with Sindh whereas it also links with populated areas which include Liaquatabad, Karimabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Sohrab Goath, Nazimabad, North Karachi and other commercial areas. Completion of flyovers on Shahrah-e-Pakistan would facilitate traffic going towards Martin Road, Liaquatabad, Lasbella, PIB Colony, Nazimabad, Azizabad, Ancholi, Karimabad and Superhighway whereas improvement plan for traffic going beneath the flyover was also under way. KMC Administrator said that city wardens along traffic police have been deployed on Shahrah-e-Pakistan during Ramazan so that traffic flow could be maintained on this road and citizens could get their homes before Aftar.
