Karachi Electric Supply Company asks citizens not to support union miscreants

Karachi: The Karachi Electric Supply Company has asked the citizens not to get provoked on the instigation of union miscreants and refrain from joining their pre-planned attacks on repair and maintenance teams.

On Wednesday afternoon, a group of union miscreants attacked a maintenance team near Delhi Colony and also instigated the area residents to join them on the pretext of protest. Some residents, not knowing their actual intentions, joined the attack. The miscreants threw stones at and physically manhandled the team members, injuring one person seriously. A few other members of the team also received minor injuries. The team was heading towards Clifton Block Nos. 8 and 9 to attend public complaints.

The same day, over a dozen union miscreants attacked the distribution office at Akhtar Colony and tried to force entry from main gate but security guards stopped them. The attackers later attempted to climb on the roof top through backside ladder but the guards then fired into the air to harass them. The miscreants escaped the scene upon that. No loss was reported.

A group of union miscreants blocked an RPD team near Tariq Road and threatened and manhandled them. They snatched meter checking instruments from the team including tong tester, power master and other tools, and warned them of dire consequences if they continued to work against union policy of strike.

The Union miscreants have been attacked IBC Gulistan-e-Johar for the past couple of days. They damaged KESC vehicles and disabled them for operation. They also manhandled and threatened the duty employees and blocked them from performance of their public complaints responsibilities. After two days of disturbance, the IBC started to repair local faults on Wednesday evening.

Besides the attacks, the KESC continued to suffer accidental pick axing of its underground cables by local government. The City Government staff pick-axed the main cable of PIA Hangar circuit which caused issues in a wide linked area of the Airport. It was found out that the CDGK staff did it during the construction work of Azimpura Road in Shah Faisal Town. Another KESC team, while locating cable faults in Gulshan-e-Iqbal on public complaints found out on Wednesday that three main underground cables had been pick-axed by the Water and Sewerage Board people while digging for sewerage near Fancy Heights. The connected area to these cables was affected on a wide scale and had already provoked the residents to stage protest at Abul Hasan Ispahani Road.
