Karachi Bolsters Security with New Command and Control Room

Karachi, Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tesori has inaugurated the 9th Command and Control Room at the Defense Police Station, marking a significant enhancement in the city’s security infrastructure under the Karachi Community Policing Plan.

According to Sindh Governor House, this latest addition is part of a broader initiative that has seen similar facilities established across Karachi, including in Azizabad, North Nazimabad, Nazimabad, Malir City, Soldier Bazar, New Sabzi Mandi, Napier, and Guzri. The Defense Police Station’s command and control room is equipped with advanced cameras capable of capturing clear images and videos of criminal activities. Governor Tesori highlighted the critical need for such technology in combating the rise in street crimes, referencing tragic incidents like the murder of Rider Ali Rehbar during a robbery.

Murad Sohni, head of Karachi Community Police, reported a 40 to 50 percent reduction in crime rates in areas with installed cameras. The briefing to Governor Tesori included details about the strategic placement of 158 cameras across a 28-kilometer area in Defense, and plans to establish eight more command and control rooms citywide, with a total deployment of over 2,000 cameras, are underway.
