Jordanian FM meets Iraqi president in Baghdad

Baghdad (IINA) � Jordanian Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi met with Iraqi President Fuad Maasoum in Baghdad on Thursday. During the meeting, Safadi conveyed the greetings of King Abdullah II as well as his congratulations over liberating Mosul from the Daesh terrorist group.

The Iraqi president praised King Abdullah's supportive stance toward Iraq, its security, and stability, stressing at the same time his country's keenness to forge closer ties with Jordan in various fields. On his part, Safadi said Jordan is interested in taking all necessary measures to boost cooperation with Iraq in the implementation of the directives of the King, Petra reported.

Earlier the day, the foreign minister met with Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Salim Al Jabouri and discussed with him means to strengthen bilateral ties in various domains as well as the latest developments related to the war on terrorism.
