JI Pakistan Shoora approves resolution on Kashmir situation

Lahore, December 27, 2016 (PPI-OT):The Jamaat-e-Islami of Pakistan at its Majlis-e-Shura meeting held in Lahore passed a resolution on Kashmir expressing solidarity with the people of Kashmir in their struggle for right to self-determination.

Three-day meeting of Jamaat Shoora was held at Mansoora in Lahore and it was presided over by the JI Pakistan Ameer, Sirajul Haq. The JI AJK Ameer, Abdur Rasheed Turabi, submitted a resolution in the meeting on the situation in occupied Kashmir which was approved with overwhelming majority.

The resolution condemned the brutal Indian state terrorism unleashed in the occupied territory particularly for the past six months. It expressed concern over the prevailing situation in occupied Kashmir and said that India was continuously using curfew, crackdowns and pellet guns as tools to crush the freedom movement. As a result, over 115 people have been killed and over 15,000 injured, so far. More than 1500 people, mostly youth, were hit with pellets, and majority of them have lost eyesight because of use of lethal weapon called pellet guns. The resolution also expressed concern over continued detention of Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Gilani.

“As a result of continued curfew, the resolution said, crops have been destroyed and fruit industry, which is backbone of Kashmir’s economy, has completely collapsed. The objective of such brutal tactics being used by India is to force the people of Kashmir into submission, and to surrender to India’s illegal occupation, but as against Indian expectations, people of Kashmir are braving India oppression and are not ready to give in. By doing so, they have conveyed to the world that they are not ready to agree on anything less than right to self-determination,” it said.

The resolution said that the uprising erupted after the killing of Burhan Muzaffar Wani has also made it clear to the world that liberation movement is quite indigenous which will continue till freedom. India resorted to unprovoked shelling and bombing on the Line of Control and Working Boundary to distract the world attention from the Kashmir movement. Over two dozen civilians and soldiers were killed and hundreds injured in the Indian firing. It also affected a large number of civilian population. The provoking statements of Indian political and military leadership are pushing the situation towards a full-fledged war.

The resolution also expressed concern over imparting of military training and distribution of weapons to Hindu fanatics in Jammu region, saying that India is planning a massacre with an aim to force the Muslim population to migrate to Pakistan. India wants to change the demography of Jammu and Kashmir and change its Muslim character through settlement of non-locals in the territory.

The resolution urged the government of Pakistan to highlight Indian atrocities at global level more forcefully and raise the issue at OIC summit, as well. The Prime Minister of Pakistan should also take up the issue at the UN General Assembly and Security Council.

The JI executive body gives full assurance to the people of Kashmir and prays that Almighty Allah may give them freedom from Indian bondage, at the earliest, said the resolution.
