Islamabad:Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has launched a special national song titled "Shan-e-Pakistan, Gilgit-Baltistan" to honor Gilgit-Baltistan Independence Day.
According to Radio Pakistan, the song is penned by the well-known Gilgit-Baltistan poet Zeeshan Mehdi and performed by singer J.J. Ali Sheena. It emphasizes the deep devotion, national identity, and strong emotional bond of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan with Pakistan.
On this day in 1947, the people of Gilgit-Baltistan achieved victory in their war of independence, ending Dogra rule and acceding to Pakistan. The Gilgit Scouts, along with local bravehearts, confronted Indian forces with remarkable courage, successfully raising the Pakistani flag. The region of Baltistan was liberated from Indian occupation on August 14, 1948, after a year-long struggle.
