IOK people not safe in presence of Indian troops: Malik

Srinagar, July 27 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik has said that killing of four civilians in Gool by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has proved that Kashmiris are unsafe in their houses in presence of Indian troops. Muhammad Yasin Malik addressing a public gathering at Tral Chowk vowed to bring the perpetrators of Gool incident to justice. “Killing of innocent civilians is intolerable. I pledge to bring the culprits of Gool massacre to justice,” he said.

“Gool massacre has once again proved that Kashmiris are unsafe even in their houses and villages. And this vulnerability is because of the presence of Indian forces in every nook and corner of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

The JKLF Chairman maintained that the puppet administration adopted double standards while dealing with protests against Gool killings. He said after the Gool incident, all pro-India leaders and parties issued statements of condemnation and demanded arrest and punishment to those who killed innocent civilians. “But when the people of Kashmir protested against the massacre same pro-India rulers imposed curfew and curbs and unleashed a reign of terror against the youth for protesting against the killings,” he said.

He pointed out that thousands of youth had been arrested, tortured in police stations or hunted by Indian forces. “Crackdowns, nocturnal raids have made the life of these young boys, most of them students, hell and put their future at stake. The arrested youth are being subjected to humiliation and often heavy ransom is demanded for their release,” he added.

He said, the so-called rulers and their officers claim that 90 percent of Kashmiris are anti-violence. “It may be true that 90 percent of Kashmiris are against violence but it is an established fact that 90 percent of people of Jammu and Kashmir stand for Azadi,” he said, adding that surveys of various international organizations like BBC, CNN-IBN, Dawn group and Gallop International had clearly proved this fact. “No power on earth can defeat a popular movement or finish it through military might,” Malik maintained.
