Indian strengthening its base in IOK under garb of Yatra: UJC

Srinagar, July 07, 2013 (PPI-OT): The United Jehad Council (UJC) Chairman, Syed Salahuddin has said that under the garb of Amarnath Yatra, India is strengthening its base in occupied Kashmir. Syed Salahuddin in a media interview with a Srinagar-based wire agency said that Kashmiri people had been offering sacrifices for their right to self-determination for the last more than six decades and their sacrifices would not be allowed to go waste.

He said that there was never a threat to Amarnath Yatra, adding that India was terrorising the people of Kashmir by Amarnath Yatra. He said, “We do not believe in terrorism and the Indian government played the threat to Yatra card to mislead the people of Kashmir.”

He maintained that Indian people like Gautam Navlakha, Arundhati Roy and Ram Jethmalani fully understand the plots and ploys of New Delhi.

Syed Salahuddin said, the Kashmiris consider Pakistan as their lawful representative to raise the Kashmir dispute on all national and international fora. It is an easy task for mujahideen to strike at yatra in presence of thousands of troopers but they will not attack the pilgrims, as doing so is terrorism, he stated.

“We know intelligence agencies are desperate to see Yatris getting attacked by us as it would give them justification for human rights violations and killings of innocent Kashmiris,” he maintained.

The UJC Chairman refuted the claims of Indian intelligence agencies that Lashkar-e-Taiba was behind every attack in Kashmir. India blames LeT for attacks to defame Pakistan and to make international community believe that the ongoing movement in Kashmir is not indigenous, he added.

He urged the Hurriyet organizations to forge greater unity among their ranks to take the ongoing movement to its logical conclusion in a more effective manner.
