Indian police ransacking, harassing Srinagar residents

Srinagar, September 25, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the residents of Srinagar have said that Indian police were involved in damaging their property and taking away cash and other household items during raids and crackdowns. Mohammad Irfan Haroon, a resident of Tahir Colony in Natipora area said that police not only damaged his and sister’s house but also took away cash, cell phones, two cheque books including important documents of his house, car and shop during the raid.

“Police were searching for me to detain on baseless charges. Not only did police damage my sister’s house but also arrested her father-in-law,” he added. “Police have also taken away my 8th standard to 2nd year qualification certificates,” complained Irfan. “Police are levelling baseless charges to target me. Be elections or any other event, I am being called to police stations,” Irfan added.
