Indian media showed biasness towards Gool killings: Mirwaiz

Srinagar, July 23 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq terming the assurances of probe by the authorities into the Gool killings as misleading and an act of deceit, has said that such statements are tantamount to rubbing salt on the fresh wounds of Kashmiris.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement in Srinagar said that 50 probe commissions in the past were constituted to investigate the killing of Kashmiris by the Indian forces, but the end result was never known. He said that such probes had proved just a fire-fighting step to douse the public anger.

He urged people to maintain sectarian bonhomie saying that some agencies were help bent upon creating fissures among the people to divert their attention from freedom struggle.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq thanked OIC General Secretary for condemning the killing and desecration of Holy Quran by Indian troops at Gool.

Meanwhile, talking to a delegation of Akali Dal led by party head Simranjeet Singh Mann that called upon Mirwaiz at his Nageen residence said the role of Indian media in highlighting bloodbath in Gool was highly unfortunate. Instead of showing the magnitude and its fallout in Kashmir, Mirwaiz said, the Indian print and electronic media was busy in projecting trivial issues faced by the Amarnath Yatra.

The way the Indian media brazenly ignored the Gool incident clearly indicates biased journalism, he added. He said the Indian media openly took the side, which was against ethics of the journalism profession.
