India made democratic institutions in IOK irrelevant: Mirwaiz

Srinagar, July 25 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that the armed forces have gone trigger-happy and are killing people without any justification.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a media interview in Srinagar said, “Omar Abdullah is feeling helpless and the condition of his comrades can be well understood. Omar and other politicians have become rubber-stamps of New Delhi.”

Lashing out at pro-India political parties for their dual character, the Mirwaiz said that New Delhi had rendered its own leaders including Omar Abdullah irrelevant as none of their suggestions were accepted.

He said that New Delhi had made democratic institutions like Kashmir Assembly irrelevant. “Despite the fact that all members in the Assembly resolve that no human rights violation should take place, forces still kill people,” Mirwaiz maintained. Pertinently, after the killing of two youth at Sumbal, Bandipore, Army Chief had assured Omar Abdullah that such incidents would not be repeated. However, it was followed by Gool firing in which four civilians were killed and 42 injured by paramilitary BSF.
.
The APHC Chairman took a dig at the puppet administration for rampant arrests of youth. “Over 50 youth, most of them teenagers, have been arrested during nocturnal raids,” he said.
.
The Hurriyet Chairman said that Jumat-ul-Vida (last Friday of Ramadhan) would be observed as Youm-e-Kashmir and a resolution would be passed in the historic Jamia Masjid. “Youm-e-Kashmir would be observed on both sides of LoC. We will pass a resolution on the prevailing situation in the territory,” he added.
