Hurriyet leaders denounce killing of protesters in Ramban

Srinagar, July 19, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Muhammad Yasin Malik and Shabbir Ahmed Shah have strongly condemned the attack on worshipers, desecration of Quran and Ramzan bloodbath by Indian troops at Gool in Ramban, terming the incident as the worst kind of state terrorism. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement in Srinagar said that Indian forces had gone trigger-happy in the occupied territory.

“It is because of the laws like AFSPA that forces have got a free hand in Kashmir to kill people without any justification,” he said. “The killing of innocent people who were protesting against desecration of holy Quran in Gool is highly condemnable,” he said adding that such incidents would continue to occur until Indian troops were withdrawn and black laws were revoked from the territory.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement describing the Gool incident as the worst example of state terrorism urged the people to protest against it. He said that those involved in the killing of innocents should be punished in public. He also demanded withdrawal of Indian troops from the occupied territory.

The JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, in a statement condemning the killings in Gool, said, “It is one of the biggest crimes committed by the terrorist forces of India in Kashmir.” He said that while Kashmiri people were engaged in providing hospitality to Hindu pilgrims, Indian forces, which had the protection under black laws, were busy in killing the innocent Kashmiris.

Senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, denouncing the Gool killings said that the more India would inflict its brutalities on Kashmiris, the more passionate they would become about their freedom.

Hurriyet leaders including Aasiya Andrabi, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Yasmeen Raja, Muhammad Azam Inqilabi, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Javed Ahmad Mir, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, Firdous Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Sharif Sartaj and Muhammad Farooq Rehmani and Grand Mufti of Kashmir, Mufti Bashir-ud-Din Ahmad, termed the Gool incident as gruesome act. “Earlier, Indian forces were targeting innocent people in Kashmir. But now they have attacked our religion and desecrated the holy Quran, which is highly condemnable,” they said and urged the people to stage strong protests against the incident.

The High Court Bar Association of occupied Kashmir, Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiat-e-Ahl-e-Hadith, Kashmir Centre for Social and Development Studies and the Voice of Victims denouncing the civilian killings at Gool also condemned the Gool killings. They also demanded strong action against all the troops involved in the killings.

On the other hand, mujahid organizations including Hizbul Mujahideen, Al-Umar and Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen have also condemned the killing of innocent civilians at Gool.
