Hurriyet leaders condemn killing of Sikh youth in IOK

Srinagar, June 05, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and senior Hurriyet leader, Shabbir Ahmad Shah have strongly condemned the killing of a Sikh youth in Jammu in the firing of Indian police on protesters. Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar termed the incident as the worst kind of oppression.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in his statement said that killing innocents and then labelling them as miscreants had become the norm in occupied Kashmir. He said that the police had been given a license to kill the people in the territory at will.

Senior Hurriyet leader, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, in his statement in Srinagar said that the BJP government in its crusade against minorities was depriving them of right to live. He expressed sympathy with the Sikh community on the unfortunate incident and said, “We too feel such pain and agony and very well understand India’s prejudicial attitude towards the Sikh community.”

Hurriyet leaders, Syed Bashir Andrabi and Nayeem Ahmed Khan, in their statements denounced the killing of the Sikh youth terming it as the worst kind of oppression and human rights violation. They deplored that Indian troops and police personnel enjoying unbridled powers under draconian laws were committing gross human rights violations in the occupied territory.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Aasiya Andrabi, the spokesman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League, Imtiaz Ahmed Shah, Hurriyet leader, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob, and member of the so-called Kashmir Assembly, Engineer Abdur Rasheed in their separate statements also condemned the killing of the Sikh youth.
