Housing Minister emphasises setting clear targets and making all out efforts to achieve them

Islamabad, July 22 2013 (PPI-OT): Minister of State for Housing and Works, Barrister Usman Ibrahim chaired a high level meeting today attended by HabibUllah Khatak, Secretary Housing and works, Amna Imran, Joint Secretary Housing and Works, senior officers of Pakistan Housing Authority, Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation, National Construction Limited, National Housing Authority and Pak-Pwd.

At the outset, the Minister reiterated Prime Minister’s directions that all government offices have to pull themselves out of culture of lethargy, must set clear targets and timelines and make all out efforts to achieve them.

The Minister was given a presentation on Bhara Kahu and Kurri road schemes by Tariq Mahmood Pirzada, Managing Director, Pakistan Housing Authority. The Minister showed concern over slow progress and stressed to accelerate work to enable the Ministry to deliver the plots and houses well in time.

The Minister was also given an update on the draft of National Housing Policy and the National Construction Limited team explained the parameters of the 3 marla and 5 marla plots/houses. The Minister appreciated their efforts and asked them that in addition to the Ashyana Housing model, other such programmes may also be studied and analyzed for a better comparison.

It was also decided that Ministry will hold a conference/seminar inviting all stakeholders on priority basis to know about the efforts of other countries in this respect and also gain understanding of proposals to be submitted by various land and construction companies engaged in this field. At the end, the Minister thanked all the participants of the meeting.
