High level delegation of Turkey meets Shahbaz Sharif

Lahore, September 06, 2016 (PPI-OT):A high-level delegation led by Ambassador of Turkey Sadik Babur Girgin called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here today. Matters of mutual interest, further promotion of Pak-Turk relations and enhancing cooperation in different sectors were discussed during the meeting. Members of the delegation congratulated the Chief Minister on his successful visit to Turkey and Turk investors expressed keen interest in investment in different sectors of Punjab. Talking to the delegation, Shahbaz Sharif said that his recent visit was for expression of solidarity with the leadership and people of Turkey.

He said that useful meetings were held with Turk President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister Bin Ali Yildirim and other leadership and agreed to enhance cooperation in health and other sectors. He said that the coup attempt foiled by people of Turkey under the leadership of great leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan was unprecedented in the history. He said that people of Turkey successfully defended their country by laying before the tanks and did not care for their lives and added that Turk people have written a new history of valour and determination for democracy.

Shahbaz Sharif said that people of Pakistan and Turkey are very close to each other and there is a relation of deep affiliation and mutual respect between the people of both the countries. He said that both the countries have to further promote cooperation in trade, economic and other sectors and time has come to further increase trade volume of two countries. He said that several Turk investor companies are working in Punjab and added that vast opportunities of investment are available in housing, infrastructure, health, vocational training and Saaf Pani sectors.

He said that Turk investors should come forward and benefit from the opportunities and they will be provided all out facilities. The Chief Minister said that Turk President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has promised to soon visit Pakistan. He congratulated Turk Consul General posted in Lahore and expressed good wishes for him. He said that with opening of Turk Consulate, Pak- Turk relations will be promoted. Speaking on the occasion, Turk Ambassador Sadik Babur Girgin said that there are historical brotherly relations between Pakistan and Turkey.

He tanked leadership and people of Pakistan for expressing solidarity with Turkey during coup attempt. He said that speedy steps will be taken for further promoting ties with Punjab. Turk Consul General said that Punjab has made record development under the leadership of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. He will try to play his due role for the promotion of cooperation between Punjab and Turkey, he added.

Heads of leading business houses of Turkey Atilla Demir Yerlikaya, President Foreign Economic Relations Board Turkey Omer Cihad Vardan, Chairman TUMSIAD Yasar Dogan, first consul general of Turkey appointed in Lahore Serdar Deniz and other senior officials were present on the occasion. Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah, Ch. Muhammad Shafiq, Chairman Punjab Investment Board and concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
