Heavy mechanical complex is a national asset
Islamabad: Federal Minister for Production, Ch. Anwar Ali Cheema has stated that Heavy Mechanical Complex (HMC) is an asset of state and it is committed to the service of nation. There is always room for improvement and we will leave no stone unturned to improve the efficiency of the institution to the best of its level, said by the Minister while visiting the HMC Taxila, today on 14-09-2011
On his arrival at the Complex, the Minister was briefed by the Managing Director (MD) HMC, Dr. Muhammad Ashraf Butt. During the briefing, the MD informed the Minister about the organization’s production facilities, foundry and forge work, quality assurance facilities, civil amenities and process plant, equipment supplied and Defence products manufactured by the Complex.
Mr. Butt told that HMC has developed engineering concepts and quality culture in the local engineering industry. Moreover, the MD informed that HMC has helped developing large number of skilled manpower in addition to contributing in generation of substantial employment opportunities.
Moreover, the Minister was briefed that HMC, apart from other sectors, mainly caters for the Sugar, Cement, Defense, and Hydro power plants. However, the MD raised the issue of lack of supportive attitude of public sector organizations toward the utilization of existing facilities at the Complex.
The MD assured that HMC will provide good quality of products at economical rates. There are two more approved projects that are in process at HMC, added the MD.
The Federal Minister took keen interest in the new projects that pertain to designing and installation of new power plants at HMC. The Minister was told that a
13MW power project was under process that would be completed within three years. Ch. Anwar Ali Cheema appreciated the project by saying that it would make HMC self –sufficient in its power generation.
Later on, while taking to local journalists present on the occasion, the Minister appreciated the role and performance of HMC. Furthermore, the Minister said that he would request the Prime Minister to visit the complex and examine its efficiency.
Ch. Anwar Ali Cheema told the journalists that HMC was delivering well beyond his expectations. As far as the issues and problems of HMC are concerned, we will take up the issue with the Prime Minister, the Minister added.
In answer to a question on national situation, Ch. Anwar Ali Cheema expressed his grave concern and sorrow over the trouble faced by people in Sindh and Balochistan due to excessive rainfall. The Minister said that it is high time that the Nation united for the national cause.
