Islamabad:Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Danyal Chaudhry announced that the government is implementing comprehensive measures to bolster the country's energy sector, with a focus on promoting renewable energy and creating opportunities for industrial growth and investment.
According to Radio Pakistan, addressing the SDPI Conference, Chaudhry highlighted the government's active pursuit of policies aimed at diversifying the energy mix. This includes encouraging clean and affordable energy solutions, reducing dependency on imported fuels, and enhancing long-term energy security.
Chaudhry pointed out the significant growth in solar energy, noting that Pakistan has seen solar panel imports of approximately 45,000 to 50,000 megawatts over the past five years. This growth indicates increasing interest from both the public and private sectors in renewable energy, as well as the expanding potential of the country's solar market.
He emphasized the necessity of aligning federal policies with provincial priorities to achieve renewable energy targets. Chaudhry also mentioned Parliament's commitment to energy policy reforms and the importance of removing obstacles in utility-scale solar and wind projects to provide affordable, clean, and stable electricity.
The government is working on broader energy-sector reforms to improve efficiency, promote sustainable power generation, and attract investment in modern energy infrastructure. Chaudhry highlighted efforts to strengthen the industrial sector by encouraging local and foreign investments, particularly in renewable energy solutions like solar power generation and energy storage.
Chaudhry stated the government's dedication to fostering a conducive business environment, facilitating investments, and supporting policies that drive industrial expansion, employment, and economic growth. Under the Prime Minister's leadership, efforts are being made to address energy challenges through policy reforms, investment promotion, and improved institutional coordination.
The government views a sustainable and diversified energy system as crucial for Pakistan's economic stability and industrial competitiveness. Chaudhry welcomed investors to join Pakistan's journey towards a more sustainable, competitive, and energy-secure future.
