Government has raised stature of the country in the eyes of international community by submitting to Supreme Court decision and gave credence to the notion that rule of law stands supreme in Pakistan

Lahore, June 22, 2013 (PPI-OT): Present government has raised the stature of the country in the eyes of international community by submitting to Supreme Court decision and gave credence to the notion that rule of law stands supreme in Pakistan.

In a statement issued here, the PIAF Acting Chairman Khamis Saeed Butt said that withdrawal of increase in the rate of General Sales Tax on the orders of Supreme Court would go a long way in the restoration of Pakistan’s image in the eyes of global investors.

The PIAF Acting Chairman said that by admitting Supreme Court decision the government has also conveyed a clear message to the corrupt elements that their corruption would not be tolerated any more.

Khamis Saeed Butt said that the ongoing energy crisis was only due to corruption and the corrupt elements responsible for bringing darkness to the country by not allowing work on mega energy generation projects should be dealt with iron hands.

He urged the government to expedite work on the electricity generation projects to overcome the energy crisis.

He hoped that the economy would be back on rails as the private sector has confidence in the abilities of the present regime. He said that the foreign investors remained away from Pakistan during the last five years only because that they had lost their confidence in the previous government.

Khamis Saeed Butt said that it is not only the local investment that would get a boost in coming months but the foreign investors would also be back to this land of opportunities.

Meanwhile, Acting Chairman PIAF welcomed 0.5 cut in markup rate and said that it would give a new lease of life to the industrial sector that was in deep trouble due to flawed policies of the previous government. He hoped that markup rate would be brought to the 8% in near future.
