Gool killings: Video negates BSF claim of self-defence

Srinagar, July 27 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, an amateur video uploaded on Internet, negating the official theory of self-defence, shows how Indian Border Security Force (BSF) troops opened fire outside their camp on unarmed civilians in Gool area of Ramban on July 18.Captured on a mobile handset and uploaded by and Youtube, the video has also voice recording of a local resident that the paramilitary forces entered a seminary and mosque and committed sacrilegious acts, leading to the protest demonstrations.

At least 4 persons were killed and 42 others injured when BSF and police had resorted to indiscriminate firing on locals protesting outside BSF camp in Gool. In its initial report, the BSF had given clean chit to its personnel claiming that its troops were forced and compelled to open fire.

The video shows less than a hundred villagers assembling outside the BSF camp raising pro-Islam slogans. Some of the protesters are seen throwing stones towards the camp but hardly any stone reaches its target.

Amid slogans, several rounds of bullets are fired towards the protesters. As the protesters run for safety, one of them is hit by bullets and falls down dead. The deceased, later identified as Manzoor Ahmed, was shot in the head.

In the small video of just 3 minutes and 26 seconds duration, the protesters are seen holding ground outside the camp raising slogans. The video shows innocent civilians are trying to register their noisy protest before the armed men inside the camp.

A police officer said, “We are not concerned with what BSF probe panel says, we will continue our own investigation.” He, however, unofficially contested the BSF claim.

The villagers claimed that the video shows second round of protest after around six civilians were injured in the firing by the BSF troops.
