Gilani castigates fresh arrest spree in occupied Kashmir

Srinagar, July 24 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has castigated the authorities for unleashing a fresh arrest spree in the territory.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said that soon after the Gool tragedy, hundreds of youth including students were picked up for participating in the peaceful protests against the desecration of Holy Quran and brutal killings of civilians in Gool Ramban.

Stressing immediate release of the youth, the veteran Hurriyet leader said that the Chief Minister of the territory, Omar Abdullah was nothing more than a show boy and powers were with India Army and police. “It is so sad that Indian troops, while challenging honour and faith of Muslims desecrated Holy Quran and instead of all this we are not being allowed to mourn the tragedy,” he said.

Syed Ali Gilani in his appeal to the Amnesty International and other human rights organisations urged them to take serious notice of Kashmir and put pressure on India to stop massive human rights violations in the territory.
