German investors’ delegation calls on Federal Commerce Minister

Islamabad, June 10, 2015 (PPI-OT): A delegation of German investors called on Federal Minister for Commerce, Engr. Khurram Dastagir Khan and expressed their keenness to invest in energy, renewable energy, automotive, infrastructure, finance, environmental machinery and agro food. The Minister apprised the delegation that Pakistan is interested to hold Pakistan-Germany Business Opportunities Conference in the near future.

The Minister also informed the delegation that Pakistan will also take part in the Hannover Fair held in Germany which is one of the largest technology fairs in the world. He will also lead a delegation of Pakistani businessmen to Germany to establish direct business-to-business relations among the prospective investors.

Mr. Dastagir informed the delegation that the traditional export sectors of Pakistan which include textiles, food processing, leather products, sports goods, surgical instruments and cutlery need huge corporate investments and up-gradation in technology. In various fields, the technology used is decades old and requires a complete overhaul, therefore, provides golden opportunity to the investors with modern and sophisticated production methods.

The Minister appreciated the support of Germany for Pakistan in securing GSP Plus in the European Commission and the European Parliament. He informed the delegation that the GSP Plus has been very successful in delivering its results as the trade with EU has increased by almost 20% since the implementation of GSP Plus.
