Firm legislation against child labour is in process: Asghar Ali Junejo

Karachi, June 12, 2015 (PPI-OT): Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh for Labour and Human Resources Mr. Asghar Ali Junejo said that firm legislation against child labour is in process and in this regards labour department officers in collaboration with Law department are working and Bill will be table at Sindh assembly soon.

Child labour is a crime and not acceptable any more in the country. This he said while talking to the media persons during the rally organized by Sindh Labour Department to mark International Child Labour day with the title of Walk for a Cause from Sindh assembly to Press Club.

A well known social worker Sarim Burney, Labour Leader Habib Uddin Junaidi, Secretary Labour and other social workers and members of international NGOs also participated in the rally. Participants hold a play cards against Child Labour and made this march successful.

Mr. Asghar Ali Junejo said that PPP government always raises the voice for the rights of poor labour class and welfare of poor people is the manifesto of Pakistan People’s Party. Poverty and unemployment are the root causes of Child Labour.

He also said that Child labour is not only exists in Pakistan but the whole country indulges in this curse. Although Sindh government has taken serious measures to curb the child labour and notices issued to all mills and factories that if any labour less than 16 years old found in their factories so legal action will be taken under Child Labour Act.

Mr. Junejo informed that child protection authority is a milestone of Sindh government. According to the statistics of Labour department, Sindh has lowest number of child labour as compare to other provinces of Pakistan.
