Federal Minister for Labour and Manpower stresses Increase in Overseas Employment
Islamabad: Federal Minister for Labour and Manpower Ch. Wajahat Hussain has stressed the Directorate of Emigrants to increase the overseas employment opportunities for the Pakistani labour force.
To reduce the unemployment in the country and to generate foreign exchange through creating more job opportunities for the Pakistani manpower is our priority, the minister vowed. He also directed the Secretary Labour and Manpower and Director Emigrant for the quick redressal of the complaints of the overseas job seeker and ordered to take legal action against all those Overseas Employment Promoters who cheat the innocent citizen in the name of overseas employment and make money fraudulently.
He said this during a briefing by Protectorate of Emigrants – Lahore region in Islamabad today. During the briefing, Protectorate of Emigrants office Lahore, briefed the Minister about the role and function of Protectorate. Director Protectorate office told the Federal Minister that during 2010 more than 84,000 registered immigrants got employment from the Lahore region alone, and revenue of Rs. 3.4 Billion was earned. Minister of State for Labour and Manpower Waqas Akram Shaikh and Secretary, Labour and Manpower were also present.
Minister of state for Labour and Manpower Waqas Akram Shaikh said that the issues of illegal immigrant in Korea will be settled soon. He said that all those emigrant who use illegal channels, block the opportunities for further jobs in Korea. Therefore, this issue will be resolved to seek more job opportunities through government registered Overseas Employment Promoters.
