Federal Minister Amir Muqam Commits to Accelerating Development in Gilgit-Baltistan

Islamabad, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, Engineer Amir Muqam, has pledged to accelerate development initiatives in Gilgit-Baltistan, focusing on enhancing local hydropower capacity and boosting tourism.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a press conference in Gilgit with former Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman and MNA Muhammad Idrees, Muqam outlined several commitments to the region. These include upgrading the Hanzel Hydropower Project to 40 MW, securing wheat subsidies for the upcoming year, and improving the overall infrastructure to support tourism and trade activities with China. Additionally, he addressed the frequent flight cancellations that disrupt local transport, proposing the deployment of C-130 aircraft to mitigate these issues.

Muqam also touched on the legal and constitutional advancements for the residents, including the appointment of judges to the Supreme Appellate Tribunals, and reaffirmed his support for addressing the economic challenges faced by the local traders and the broader community.
