‘Fanna-Fi-Allah’ Qawwali Party

Karachi, December 05, 2014 (PPI-OT): ‘Fanna-Fi-Allah’ is a Sufi Qawwali Party, based in the United States, traveling through Pakistan on a ‘Peace and Qawwali Pakistan 2014’ tour. Led by Tahir Faridi Qawwal (Geoffrey Samuel Dennis Lyons), the party consists of members AminahChishti (Jessica Lynn Ripper) on Tabla, Jahangir Baba (Charles David Spinner), Laali Qalander (Devananda Rubin), Ali Shaan (Andre Vincent Preece) and Salim Chisti (Pascal Hudson).

They are students and devotees of the musical art of Qawwali first introduced by Hazrat Amir Khusro Dehlavi. In the spirit of traditional Qawwali, their music embodies the themes of peace, harmony, and coexistence.

The band has visited Pakistan on numerous occasions to study with Qawwal master Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and for performances at shrines in Sindh and Punjab. Their goal is to build bridges between Pakistani and American communities through musical exchange. Their tour in Pakistan is sponsored by a U.S. Department of State grant to local partners Aqua safe and the Chishtiyah Ribbat Sufi Studies Center.
