Extension in tax return date filing demanded

Lahore, October 20, 2016 (PPI-OT): The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry demanded of the Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the date for the filing of income tax returns till December 31, 2016 as a large number of businessmen cannot file their returns because of multiple reasons.

In a statement issued here, the LCCI President Abdul Basit, Senior Vice President Amjad Ali Jawa and Vice President Muhammad Nasir Hameed Khan said that because of elections of trade bodies, holidays and cumbersome online systems of FBR, a large number of businessmen cannot file their returns and it would be almost impossible for them to do this task till October 31.

The LCCI office-bearers said that extension in the date for the filing of will not only be a great favor to the business community but will also be in the interest of the government.

Elaborating the point, the LCCI office-bearers said that extension in the date for the filing of income tax returns will help government to achieve its revenue target besides trust building of the private sector.

They said that an extension in the date of filing of income tax returns would not only facilitate the business community but it would also send a very positive signal about private-public sector liaison.

“Extension in the date for the filing of income tax return till December 31, 2016 will give a good message that government honours the business community”, the LCCI office-bearers concluded.
