European Union, the Netherlands and Germany jointly providing € 63 million to support reform of Technical Education Vocational and Training Authority sector in Pakistan

Islamabad, July 18, 2013 (PPI-OT): Blue pottery training in Multan. As part of the EU funded programme in support of the Technical and Vocational Training sector in Pakistan, CARE International released two studies: a baseline study and a market assessment and skill gap analysis, assessing the need and demand for skill training in Multan, Muzaffargarh, Vehari and Rajanpur districts in Punjab and Tando Allahyar, Thatta and, Mirpur Khas districts in Sindh.

These studies will provide the baseline for the € 2.6 million CARE implemented project “Enhancing Socio-Economic Development through Investing in Human Capital in Punjab and Sindh”, which plans to provide skills training for 8000 women and support government TVET institutes in introducing relevant and good quality trainings.

The EU, the Netherlands and Germany are jointly providing a total of € 63 million to support a reform of the TVET sector in Pakistan. This entails institutional reform, improvement of governance structures, accreditation, curriculum development, teacher training, improvement of labour market services etc.

This programme is conducted in close cooperation with the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) at the national level as well with the provincial TEVTAs and training providers for their capacity building.
