Erdogan, Trump meet over dinner banquet in Paris

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his US counterpart Donald Trump chatted for a while on Saturday during a dinner hosted by the French leader.

According to Anadolu Agency (AA), Erdogan arrived in Paris on Saturday at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron to attend the Armistice Day commemorations.

The dinner was given by Macron in honor of world leaders and their spouses who came to Paris to attend the event. Sitting next to each other, Turkish and the US presidents had some talks.

Following his arrival in Paris, President Erdogan also received United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, where the two sides held a 45-minute closed-door meeting.

During his two-day visit, Erdogan is expected to hold bilateral meetings with world leaders, particularly with his US counterpart Donald Trump.

Armistice Day is commemorated every year on 11 November to mark the 1918 armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at CompiAgne, France, for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front of World War I.
