Er Rasheed launches new political party in IHK

Srinagar, June 13, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, independent MLA, Er Abdul Rasheed launched new political party for, what he claimed, representing true sentiments and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Er Abdul Rasheed, who represents Langate constituency of Kupwara district in the Assembly, announced formation of the party “Awami Ettihaad” (Peoples’ Unity) at a press conference in Srinagar.

He said that his party would fight for the resolution of Kashmir dispute and end to human rights violations.

“Awami Ittehad’s agenda will only be to give something to the people. It is not for the exploitation. It will be the people’s party run by the people itself to change the system,” said Rashid.

“I feel no hesitation in saying that the pro-parties are representing India in Kashmir, otherwise their duty was to represent Kashmiris in India, and recently they have proved this by allowing the hanging of Afzal Guru as per the wishes of their agents in New Delhi,” said Rasheed.

He said that both ruling and opposition parties could not even get Afzal Guru’s body back to his family.
