Director Agency for State Material Reserves Tajikistan calls on Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs

Islamabad, December 22, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Director of Agency for State Material Reserves of Tajikistan, Mr. Nurmuhammad Atoevich, called on the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs today.

Mr. Atoevich condoled with the SAPM over the terrorist attack in Peshawar, which has brought grief to nations across the world. The Special Assistant thanked for the support and solidarity expressed by Tajikistan’s leadership in the face of this tragedy. He reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to eradicate the scourge of terrorism.

Mr. Atoevich expressed Tajikistan’s desire to import a wide range of commodities using Pakistan’s seaports. To increase bilateral trade, he also underlined Tajikistan’s interest in the import of sugar, wheat and potatoes from Pakistan.

Welcoming the delegation to Pakistan, the SAPM highlighted the importance that Pakistan attaches to close, cooperative relations with Tajikistan. This resolve was manifested in the recent high level exchanges between countries, including the visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to Tajikistan in June 2014 and Tajik Foreign Minister’s visit to Islamabad in November 2014.

Tajikistan, the SAPM added, was central to our regional outreach with strong component of connectivity and economic cooperation. The thrust areas of bilateral engagement included trade, investment, energy and culture.

Mr. Atoevich is visiting Pakistan from 22-23 December 2014 and would be holding talks with relevant Ministries on deepening of bilateral collaboration in diverse fields.
