Delegation of 22nd Senior Management Course visits Capital Development Authority Headquarters

Islamabad, October 18, 2016 (PPI-OT): Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and Capital Development Authority (CDA) are effectively following a comprehensive strategy to complete the ongoing development projects in the Federal Capital in stipulated time. While development work in stalled sectors as well as on other welfare projects for the residents of the city would also be initiated.

Member Administration, Muhammad Suleman Warraich expressed these views while briefing the delegation of participants of 22nd Senior Management Course from National Management College on the eve of their study tour to CDA Headquarters. The participating officers were from various civil service groups including Pakistan Administrative Service, Pakistan Police Service, Secretariat Service, Information group, Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service, Foreign Service of Pakistan, Pakistan Custom Service, Inland Revenue Service, Railway group, Postal Service, Provincial Service and senior officers of Ex-Cadre.

On this occasion, Member Planning and Design, Member Finance and officers of different formations of the Authority were also present. While briefing the delegation, Member Administration, Muhammad Suleman Warraich said that on the directions of Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz, some development projects of immense importance have been completed; adding that development work on other mega projects would be started soon to meet the future requirements of city.

He apprised the delegation that on taking over the responsibilities of development of the Federal Capital to the newly elected representatives of the local government, Mayor MCI and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz has formulated a comprehensive strategy under which priority would be given to the requirements, opinions and suggestions of the residents of the city for future planning and development.

He informed that Prime Minister of Pakistan fulfilled his pledge, adding that for the first time in the history of Islamabad, Metropolitan Corporation came into being as result of newly elected local government representatives have been given the responsibility of development of the city. To ensure transparency and merit in CDA, he said that the present regime has taken effective measures in this regard.

He added that transparency and merit are the major components to bring stability in the institutions. He said that priority is being given to development of sectors, adding that besides development of new sectors, development work in stalled sectors have also been restarted. While effective monitoring system has been made to ensure timely completion of these development projects, Member Administration said.

Member Administration informed the delegation that latest technology is being utilized for computerization of land record. He said that work on plan for utilization of latest technology is being carried out on accelerated pace to introduce automated system at One Window Operation Directorate.

While briefing the delegation about the financial system of CDA, Member Finance, Fahad Haroon Aziz said that CDA is an autonomous body which completes its development projects through its own resources. Following the self reliance policy, CDA would initiate such development projects in the city, which would generate constant and it would also increase revenue generation.

Member Planning and Design, Asad Mehboob Kiyani briefed the delegation about the planning of the Federal Capital. He informed that work on mega projects is being carried out to meet the future traffic requirements of the city. He said that one of these projects is Signal Free Expressway from Zero Point to Rawat. He informed that first phase of this project has been completed, while work on second phase i.e. Koral Interchange is in progress.

He also informed that mega projects related to promotion of trade and economic activities are in pipeline, adding that work on these projects would be initiated soon. Delegation of the officers took keen interest in the briefing and asked many questions related to the development projects. On this occasion Member Administration, Muhammad Suleman Khan Warraich presented souvenir to the head of the delegation.
