Curfew imposed in Ramban IOK

Srinagar, July 18, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian authorities imposed strict restrictions and curfew in Ramban district to foil massive protest demonstrations against killing of at least eight protesters in Gool area of the district.

District Development Commissioner (DDC) of Ramban, Shan Vinood Meena while confirming the reports of curfew said, “We have imposed curfew in Ramban district around 5.30 PM today”.

On the other hand, the authorities have decided to impose curfew in Srinagar and other major towns of the Kashmir Valley on Friday, an official spokesperson told media men. He said a meeting of top officials of administration and police was held in Srinagar Thursday to review the situation arising out of the killings in Gool. “It was decided in the meeting that curfew will be imposed in the Valley,” he said.

Meanwhile authorities have decided not to issue any curfew passes to media persons. “No passes will be issued on Friday. If somebody will have to travel by air, his ticket will be considered as curfew pass,” they said.
